The trail climbs 2,300 feet through diverse terrain and is known for its steady uphill climb. The trailhead is accessible via Storm Castle Road, about 16 miles south of Four Corners.

As you trek along this rocky path, you'll be surrounded by a lush evergreen forest and treated to the sights of beautiful waterfalls, all leading to a breathtaking nestled between towering rock walls and majestic treeless mountain peaks. While the rocky terrain may add bit of challenge, the stunning views and the lake at the end make every step incredibly worthwhile!

FAIRY LAKE TRAIL
Fairy Lake is a stunning alpine lake nestled in a forested basin at the foot of Sacagawea Peak. From the upper trailhead, you enjoy a leisurely 1-mile loop around the lake. If your vehicle can't reach the lower trailhead, you can still access the lake with an additional 4-mile round-trip hike. It's an ideal spot for picnicking, fishing, and swimming, so don’t miss the chance try out the rope swing located midway across the lake!

DRINKING HORSE TRAIL
Drinking Horse Mountain is the prominent hill across from the popular “M” trail at the mouth of Bridger Canyon. The trail meanders alongside the Fish Technology Center to a bridge over Bridger Creek, followed by the official trail arch. After that comes a trail junction, either way leading up to the summit. Going left at the junction puts hikers on a steeper ascent, with multiple switchbacks and plentiful shade. To the right, the trail is more gradual and takes longer to ascend; much of this route lacks shade along the west-facing side of the mountain. Several benches along the way offer a comfortable seat to take in views of the Gallatin Valley and the Story Hills. Once on top, you can gaze into Bridger Canyon and along the Bangtails. Drinking Horse is a dog-friendly trail; however, keep in mind the high density of people and pups when deciding whether to let your dog off-leash.

M TRAIL
At the stunning entrance of Bridger Canyon, you'll find the iconic "M," a remarkable landmark created by Montana State University students in 1915! There are two exciting routes from the trail—one offers a steep and direct climb, while the other meanders through the landscape. For an adrenaline-pumping experience, take a right at the first junction for a thrilling ascent; for a more leisurely option, make a hard left for a gradual climb. This trail is conveniently close to Bozeman and is popular among hikers, featuring breathtaking views of the Gallatin Valley and the Story Hills—making it an ideal spot for a refreshing lunch break or an adventurous out-and-back hike!

TRIPLE TREE TRAIL
This incredible trail is situated on the vibrant south side of Bozeman just a stone's throw from town! It kicks off on a lovely grassy spur, crosses Limestone Creek several times, and meanders through the beautiful state land on the northwest slope Mount Ellis. Triple Tree is a fantastic local trail that’s quick and easy, packed with options for everyone! The steep climb to the overlook rewards you with breathtaking views the stunning Gallatin Valley—don't miss it!
